Team building exercises- OR not #¥uppieArt

Long term collaboration is not a foreign concept to Kose¥  or myself; that said, we recognize the importance of inserting fun into our workflow in order to break the creative/emotional intensity of working on our art. This need to balance "work"-life presents itself as a greater challenge when you're building something during what would be considered your personal time- i.e., the time apart from our other careers. Consequentially, we've ventured to try and find ways to insert our hobbies and personal proclivities into a shared space where we both can learn and grow, while having fun. Hilarity, however, ensues when those proclivities are somewhat opposed (I'm a fitness enthusiast and Kose¥  is a recovering rock star), and you're left trying to strike a satisfying compromise on how to spend those precious moments of "free time" while continuing to build the momentum of excitement in your fledgling company, and basically, not be sick of each other's faces.

Co-Working space- #¥uppieArt vs. Nature vs. 10 year olds

A cramped NYC apartment isn't the ideal situation for creating a burgeoning design business. Deciding to explore the vasts escapes of our urban backyard, Kose¥ and I ventured to Central Park. Apart from being my biggest beauty secret, Central Park also seemingly served as the perfect venue for our creative expression. That is, until:

1- the temperature dropped to 35 degrees, despite the day originally starting off as sunny and warm;

2- the ground was muddy from an early morning rain shower, which left Kose¥ and I damp and looking like we had fallen into poo;

3- Kose¥ cut his palm pretty badly with a box cutter and I had to employ ad hoc nurse skills with supplies from the local drug store;

4- energetic little kids approached Kose¥, and inquired about his art; little kids scare Kose¥, especially articulate, energetic ones, so this just didn't go over well.

The cumulative result: the makings of a daytime TV segment, featuring Brain¥+Kose¥ vs Central Park vs UES kids.

Das shit- #¥uppieArt

Friday night mid-jog in Central Park and Kose¥ messages me to screen shot a bar code; he is at the store buying supplies and needs my coupon. Fifteen minutes and several phone calls/ screenshots later of the various disconnected graphics that make up a digital coupon image, and i) the sun has set so my jog has gone to shit; ii) I've literally stepped in some sort of animal shit; and iii) we have saved 20% on supplies for our business.

Building a business isn't easy. Especially when you have a business partner.

It's like being in a relationship- without any of the make-up sex.

But like any relationship- if you're in it to win it, then MAGIC can happen;
