Oysterman’s Stopper makes a well- balanced trefoil –faced stopper at the end of the rope, which yields greater resistance to pulling through an opening than other breeds of stoppers. Developed around 1910 by Clifford W. Ashley, the knot is a common overhand noose, with the distinction of having the noose eye close upon the end of the rope which passes through it.
